How do I participate in the Quincy Noon Kiwanis Charity Auction?

  1. You can place a pre-bid on-line or attend the live event at the Quincy Mall on February 19th, 2011, starting at 1pm to 4pm. On-line bidding is PRE-BIDDING only. The highest online (maximum bid) for each item will be represented during the final live bidding on February 19th. You do not have to be at the live auction to complete your bidding. If you have the highest online bid by February 19th, 2011 at 12:00 am, your maximum bid will be represented by a Kiwanis “Proxy” bidder that will bid on your behalf at the live auction. If your bid wins the item you will be notified by email and you will be able to settle the transaction on the website. No item will be awarded to a winning bidder until the live auction.
** If you haven't done so already, you'll need to register for an account before you can bid with us.

Where do these items come from?

All items are donated by local vendors who want to support the charitable operations of the Quincy Noon Kiwanis Club.

What does the Quincy Noon Kiwanis do with the money they raise?

Last summer, they provided over $25,000 to local youth organizations. Nearly all of that money comes from the annual fundraising auction.

  • Some of the organizations included: Adams County Transition Team, Advocacy Network for Children, Big Brother/Big Sister, Camp Callahan, Cheerful Home, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch and many more.
  • What are "Buy Now" items?

These are items you can purchase immediately. After agreeing to purchase the item, you can go to Paypal to pay for your item(s). You will be able to pick up the item at the Quincy Mall on February 19th, or contact Amy Looten at the Quincy Chamber of Commerce. There are a limited number of items here, and once they are purchased, they are no longer available.

    How does the bidding work?

    1. When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay for the item. The seller and other bidders won't know your maximum bid amount.
    2. We then place bids on your behalf starting with the next bid increment for the auction. We'll bid as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder (or to meet the reserve price). We'll keep bidding for you until bidding reaches your maximum amount.
    3. If another bidder has placed the same bid before you or a higher maximum bid, we'll let you know that you've been outbid so that you can place another bid if you want. However, if no other bidder has a higher maximum bid at the end of the auction, you win the item even if your bid doesn't go as high as your maximum bid. You could pay significantly less than your maximum price. This means you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed.

** Please note that all bids placed online are PRE-BIDDING ONLY. If you have the highest bid at the close of the pre-bidding period at Midnight on February 19th, 2011, you will be represented at the live auction on February 19th up to your maximum bid price by us.

    What is Paypal?

PayPal is an account-based system that allows anyone with an email address to securely send and receive online payments. PayPal makes sending money as easy as sending email. Members can instantly send money to anyone with an email address. Recipients are notified by email that they have received a payment. PayPal is designed from the ground up to be one of the safest ways to send money online. Unlike other financial institutions, our payments are sent without sharing financial information. In fact, PayPal never shares your financial information with or sells it to merchants.

It's always free to send money, you receive your items in a timely manner, and it's secure and private.

All winning bidders will need to pay for items at the conclusion of the live bidding on February 19th, 2011. Quincy Noon Kiwanis will accept cash, personal checks, or credit card payments.

What if I don't want to use my credit card?

You can pay with cash or check by coming to live auction at the Quincy Mall on February 19th starting at 1pm.

How do I track the bids that I've made?

You can track all of your activity in My Account area. It will show you items you still need to pay for, items you've purchased, and items you've placed bids on. You can even link back to the bid item if you want to increase your maximum bid.

What does "Reserve not Met" mean?

There is a minimum price that the Noon Kiwanis of Quincy is willing to sell the item for. Bidders must exceed the minimum price or the item will not be sold. ALL ITEMS IN THE PRE-BIDDING PERIOD WILL SHOW AS RESERVE NOT MET AS THE SALE WILL NOT BE FINALIZED UNTIL THE LIVE BIDDING ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH AT THE QUINCY MALL.
